2012 fusion sel -what connects to this

Found this fitting, but don't know what goes into it. Had to pull dash to replace evaporator temperature sensor. Looks like a hose to cabin air temp outlet on dash near instrument cluster might fit in it but have no idea if it will reach or fit. Any ideas?

Ok, hose does not fit inside or outside of that. Don't know what the fitting or the hose is for.
