Manual swap to digital climate control

Have anyone swapped from manual climate control to the automatic one? Is it plug and play? Or it won't work? I'm trying to upgrade my 08 fusion base model from the manual one to the automatic/digital one.

Most likely you'll have to reprogram the ECU as well.
